Devices and desk phones

Epocra runs on your phone, on your computer, and on the desk phone you already have. It is the same account and the same call history everywhere: take a call on the desk phone and the transcript is on your laptop.

Where Epocra runs

Four places, on one account. Two of them make and take calls.

  • Mobile — iPhone and Android. Make and take calls.
  • Your existing desk phone — make and take calls, exactly like the app. Epocra runs on a standard SIP connection, so a desk phone that can register to a SIP server works as-is. You do not need to buy new hardware or give up the handset on your desk. See Registering a desk phone.
  • Desktop — Windows and Mac. Aimed at reading: your full call history, transcripts, summaries and tasks on a screen big enough to work from.
  • Web — the same thing in a browser, at your account portal.

Downloads for the apps are on the resources page. A desk phone needs no download — just the credentials from Settings SIP Credentials.

Using more than one device at once

Sign in on as many of your own devices as you like. They all show the same calls.

An incoming call rings every device you have registered at the same time — desk phone, mobile app, however many you have set up — and whichever one you answer takes the call. The rest stop ringing. This is the same behaviour you would get from a traditional business phone system.

Do I need to keep the app open?

No. Forwarded calls reach you whether or not the app is in the foreground, and recording and transcription happen on our side rather than on your handset.

Registering a desk phone

Epocra runs on a standard SIP connection, so a desk phone that can register to a SIP server will work. You do not need to replace hardware you already have.

  1. Open your SIP credentials In the app, go to Settings SIP Credentials. You will find a username, password, server, and port and transport.
  2. Enter them on the phone Put those credentials into the SIP account settings of any desk VoIP phone.
  3. Let it register The phone registers itself and starts ringing on incoming calls alongside your other devices.
Recording on a desk phone

Calls taken on the desk phone are recorded, transcribed and summarised exactly like calls taken in the app, because that work happens on our side rather than on the device. They appear in your call history alongside everything else.

Rather not do it yourself?

Send us the make and model at info@epocra.com and we will walk you through it.

Headsets, car audio and speakerphone

Epocra calls behave like any other call on your phone, so your headset, car and speakerphone all work normally. There is nothing to pair separately.
