Voice notes and meetings
Not everything worth remembering happens on the phone. Epocra can record an in-person meeting, or a note you dictate to yourself, and put it through the same treatment as a call.
Starting one
Open the Keypad tab. The microphone button sits in the bottom-left corner, next to the green call button. Tap it and recording begins.
Long-pressing the green call button does the same thing, if that is easier one-handed.
Nothing is dialled and no line is used. Your phone records into its own microphone, exactly as it would for a voice memo, and uploads the file when you finish.
Where you can record one
Both the phone app and the watch app can start a recording, and it does not matter which one you use — it is the same feature and the result lands in the same place.
| Device | How you start it |
|---|---|
| iPhone / Android phone | The microphone button on the Keypad tab, or a long press on the green call button. |
| Apple Watch / Wear OS watch | Open Epocra on the watch and tap the record button. Useful when the phone is in a pocket or bag and reaching for it would interrupt the room. |
The watch uses its own microphone and uploads the recording itself, so it keeps working if your phone is not to hand. You do not have to start anything on the phone first.
What people use it for
- An in-person meeting — put the phone on the table and get the same write-up you would get from a call.
- A note to yourself — talk through what just happened while walking back to the car, and let Epocra pull the follow-ups out of it.
What happens afterwards
The recording uploads, is transcribed, and comes back with a summary and action items, which collect in the Tasks tab alongside the ones from your calls. See Tasks.
While that is happening the entry appears in your history and tells you where it is up to: Recording…, then Pending… while it uploads and processes. If the upload does not complete you will see Upload failed rather than silence.
Finding them again
They live in Recents, under the Meetings tab, which holds everything you recorded yourself rather than phoned. On the desktop app the same view is called Notes & Meetings.
They also appear in All alongside your calls, and AI Chat can draw on them like anything else. See AI Chat.
They have their own summary templates
Meetings and voice notes are summarised with their own set of templates, kept separate from the ones used for phone calls. A template written for a sales call is rarely the right shape for a site visit or a note you dictated to yourself, so the two sets do not share.
You build them exactly the same way as call templates, in Settings › Summary templates — your own sections, your own instructions. When you open a meeting, only the meeting templates are offered in the View with picker.
See Summary templates for how to write one.
Meeting time is its own allowance
Recorded meetings are metered separately from call minutes. You can see where you stand under Settings › Meeting hours.
What happens if you run out
Nothing is thrown away. A meeting recorded once you are past your plan's limit is held rather than processed, and shows in your history as Meeting Held — Plan Limit. The audio is kept; what is waiting is the transcription and summary.
Settings › Held calls & meetings shows how many are waiting and how much time they add up to. From there you can go through them and choose which ones to process rather than being made to take them in the order they happened — useful when two of thirty actually mattered.
The same holds for calls that arrive over the limit, which is why the row covers both. See Usage and subscription.
